Vice President of Education and Community Foundation Services

Its mission is to provide voice and connection for Ohio philanthropy and be the preferred provider of resources that enhance the effectiveness of members in achieving their charitable goals.
Position summary:
The VP, Education and Community Foundation Services provides vision and oversight for all OGF educational programs through leadership of the staff education team and is personally responsible to identify, develop and implement programs and services to member community foundations throughout the state. The VP, Education and Community Foundation Services is a member of the senior leadership team of OGF that helps coordinate overall strategy for the organization. This is a full-time exempt position that reports to the President and is based in the Columbus office.
Primary responsibilities:
Educational leadership
- Leads the staff education team to develop and deliver high quality, relevant and valuable educational programming, including core competency, constituency, regional, funding interest, annual conference and all other OGF educational programming, based on best practices of adult learning
- Develops long term educational strategy to further the vision and mission of OGF
- Oversees the implementation of program delivery throughout the state
- Develops processes to evaluate programming
- Prepares budgets and monitors expenditures for all educational activities
- Ensures ongoing programmatic excellence
- Promotes the integration of educational programming into OGF’s strategy
- Serves as OGF’s point of contact with education-related philanthropic affinity groups
Community Foundation programs and services
- Develops and executes annual programs and services for member community foundation staff and trustees
- Provides staff leadership and liaison to the community foundation program committee, and to ad hoc committees as needed
- Develops and implements a community foundation recruitment and retention plan
- Assists the Director of Knowledge Management in providing specialized information about community foundations, as well as responses to member information requests, as needed
- Develops and implements an ongoing community foundation agenda for OGF
- Keeps up to date on local, state and national community foundation policies, procedures and practices
- Identifies and develops strategies to meet current and emerging needs of Ohio’s community foundations
- Serves as OGF’s point of contact with other community foundation philanthropic infrastructure organizations
Administrative responsibilities
- Serves and works collaboratively as a member of OGF’s senior leadership team
- Leads, coaches and develops high performance education team members
- Coaches and retains high-performance education team members
- Participates in the development of the annual operational plan
- Demonstrates leadership and adherence to principles of OGF staff culture
Qualifications
- Direct experience with community foundations
- Understanding of principles of adult learning
- Experience with membership organizations, volunteer management and team building
- Experience in conceptualizing and implementing educational programs
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching and relationship management experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic and high energy level
- Experience and demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directed, with demonstrated attention to detail
- College graduate, advance degree preferred
- 5-10 years relevant experience in philanthropy, the nonprofit sector or a membership association
