Program Director
CircEsteem unites and empowers youth from diverse backgrounds by teaching them the skills needed to succeed in life. Specifically, CircEsteem promotes the development of self esteem, personal success and empowerment by (i) promoting the practice of circus arts; (ii) uniting youth from diverse backgrounds; (iii) providing skills training; and (iv) providing children from lowincome and economically challenged backgrounds with the financial safety net they will need as
they seek higher education. The Program Director’s essential job function is to supervise all programs of CircEsteem including the program infrastructure; personnel management; program promotion and events, and various administrative tasks as needed.
The Program Director reports to and is accountable to the Executive Director of CircEsteem.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Implementation and Infrastructure
• Plan and Coordinate CircEsteem’s programs:
• HomeWork & CircusWork
• After-School Outreach
• On site Circus Classes
• CircEsteem for Hire
• CircusTeens Job Program
• Establish policies, procedures and safety guidelines for programs
• Maintain the infrastructure to include participants from all CircEsteem programs to perform in the Winter and Spring circuses
• Evaluate programs and provide feedback as needed to streamline programs to ensure quality and efficiency
• Report and discuss activity schedule and program status to the Executive Director
• Attend necessary professional development workshops, events and training seminars
• Train program staff on all CircEsteem policies and procedures
Personnel
• Recruit, hire, and provide training and supervision for instructors, tutors, teens and volunteers for all programs
• Ensure appropriate matching / training is provided for each instructor, tutor and volunteer training
• Provide and maintain written evaluations for program staff and partners upon completion of each program
• Develop and maintain open communication lines among instructors, tutors, volunteers, teen performers and parents of participants
• Recruit, supervise, schedule and train staff and volunteers to ensure safe and competent delivery of programs
• Execute payroll for employees, independent contractors, teen performers and Federal Work Study students
Public Relations
• Participate with Executive Director, Development Director and Artistic
Directors to create and implement program promotion
• Provide public presentations and demonstrations as needed
• Assist with fund raising events
• Contribute to the production of newsletter articles and other promotional materials
• Attend and/or present at relevant trade shows, volunteer fairs and organizations Administration
• Assist with day-to-day office supervision and management
• Develop program budget for program area
• Maintain program expenditures within budgeted parameters
• Apprise Executive Director of program and project status
• Assume duties as directed during Executive Director’s absence
• Interface and cultivate relations with parents, community and organizational partners
• Track CircusTeens earnings and maintain college savings program contributions
