On September 19, 2011, President Barack Obama unveiled his $3 trillion federal budget Deficit Reduction Plan, which incorporates as an important part of its strategy the American Jobs Act, which was proposed earlier in the month.  Among its proposals are several tax items, including a temporary payroll tax cut, new tax credits to promote hiring, and changes to individual tax rates for certain high-income taxpayers.

Much debate is expected in Congress on these proposals, and it will be interesting to watch and learn its fate in the coming weeks and months.
